The kids and I drove the 15 hour journey to Indiana the other week to enjoy fall like temperatures, Grandma, grandpa, and Ally, and their beautiful kid friendly back yard. The boys spent most of their days in the backyard playing in the sand and trying to catch a bird (Soren had a cage he kept trying to lure birds into, no luck though, thankfully). It was a great break from the Dallas heat.

Turkey Run State Park
The whole ride to the park the boys kept lamenting that they didn't have their buck rifle
(BB gun) to shoot all the turkeys with...we didn't see any turkeys.
We loved being outdoors climbing on rocks, climbing up ladders, and splashing in the water. And Turkey Run was a beautiful place to hike.
And my dad was a sport for carrying an extra 20 lbs. on his back.
Liesel, happy to be out of the back carrier, saying "Cheese" for me, so lovely.
Ezra launching his "canoe" stick in the water.
Soren getting ready to launch his "canoe" stick in the water.

It turned out that my sister Shelley was in Indiana the same time I was...party.
My parents live across the street from the White River. So for Christmas one year all the kids chipped in to buy them a canoe. This was the canoes first trip in the river, and even though we couldn't go to far (the water was low) had loved it.

Grandpa, the boys, and Grandma( I chose this picture because Shelley's tongue is sticking out of her mouth!)
Because of my children's love of Little House on the Prairie Grandma decided to take us to Conner Prairie, a living museum where characters tell you about Prairie Town. The kids loved it, especially the barn where the animals were walking free and they could pet or hold them.
