God Bless America

The 4th of July.
We read the Declaration of Independence to the kids this week, trying to gear them up for the 4th and help them understand why we have it.  When we originally asked them why we celebrate they all thought it had something to do with Jesus, since most other holidays we celebrate do!

This year we laid low all morning, doing some things around the house and eating tons of yummy food.  And then we walked in our city's parade.
We decorated our wagon and pulled it next to the float.

Topping out at 101 the parade was hot.  But the kids were troopers.

Liesel didn't even seem to mind when Vera lounged on her!
After the parade we got pjammered up and lit 30 sparklers in all! (Andy and I were feeling guilty about not taking the kids to see the fireworks, we are both feeling a little sick.)

But they didn't seem to mind!

Happy 4th of July!
